DPD now offers next-day delivery by 10:00 to nearly 80% of all Dutch addresses in response torising customer demand.
The parcel service provider expanded its DPD 10:00 service to cover additional addresses in theNetherlands at the beginning of February. As a result, next-day parcel delivery is now possiblebefore 10:00 in the morning for nearly 80% of all addresses in the country.
DPD said the service enhancement responds to increasing demand for parcels to be delivered earlyin the day. In regions where DPD 10:00 is not yet available, clients can choose DPD 12:00 or18:00.
The DPD 10:00 service had already made it possible to send parcels to parts of the Netherlands,Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg since September 2009. However, early delivery was limited toa select number of postal codes in the Netherlands during the introductory phase, DPD said.
“The advantages of next-day parcel delivery before 10:00 are more than clear,” said Robert vanStraaten, Director of Marketing & Sales at DPD Netherlands. “However, it’s difficult to offerguaranteed service throughout the entire Netherlands. The widespread traffic congestion alone is anissue. This expansion within less than half a year represents an important step towards realising100% coverage within the foreseeable future.”
For deliveries within Europe, road transport is a cheaper, cleaner and effective alternative toair transport, the company said. In 2010, DPD will therefore be increasing its emphasis on roadexpress products such as DPD 8:30, DPD 10:00, DPD 12:00 and DPD 18:00.
If the parcel is delivered later than the guaranteed time, the early delivery charge is refundedto the client in full.
