British parcels carrier Nightfreight has picked up several home delivery contracts to continuethe growth of its two-man home delivery service for large goods.
JD Williams, the UK’s leading direct home shopping retailer, has awarded the firm a three-yearcontact for the provision of a two-man home delivery solution for direct supplier orders.Nightfreight was appointed by JD Williams after developing an innovative IT Solution that wouldprovide the retailer with total visibility and tracking of all orders from 15 manufacturers via itsown in-house customer service system.
Under the agreement, Nightfreight will handle the collection and delivery of a diverse rangeof items such as white goods, home electronics, furniture and upholstery, including made to orderproducts. The solution will use Nightfreight’s Deliver2Home national two-man home delivery service,handling around 200 deliveries per week to addresses across the UK.

Last December, department store group House of Fraser appointed Nightfreight to provide atwo-man home delivery service for made to order furniture and other high-value softfurnishings. The logistics solution utilises Nightfreight’s Pacemaker operation, a specialist‘White Glove’ home delivery service that has more than 25 years working with the UK’s leadingretailers and manufacturers. It operates from a 200,000 sq ft facility in West London and threesmaller partner depots at Motherwell, Mansfield and Morecambe.

Separately, Rest Assured, the luxury bed and mattress maker, has consolidated home deliveriesacross its retail operation by awarding a supplier contract to Nightfreight’s Deliver2Home two-manservice to handle home deliveries across the UK. Nightfreight will distribute products from theWillenhall National Hub and using its shared-user network, made up of more than 50 locationsnationwide, will deliver around 1000 beds and mattresses each month to Rest Assured customers.
Nightfreight had previously taken delivery of more Bevan21 streamlined aerodynamic trucks foruse in its two-man delivery operation to improve its fuel consumption performance. The service wasalso enhanced last autumn with the addition of a Saturday delivery service and software enabling athree-hour delivery time window.
