Indian carrier Kingfisher Airlines targets domestic express market

Fast-growing Indian passenger airline Kingfisher Airlines is seeking to gain a slice of thedomestic express market with the launch of a door-to-door, same-day delivery service.



Its new Kingfisher Xpress service, launched at the start of February, is described as India’sfirst same-day delivery-by-air service for shipments across major cities. The door-to-door cargodelivery service claims to be India’s only same day delivery by air service, with a money-backguarantee.

The Kingfisher Xpress Same Day service offers collection in the country’s six major cities,Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata, and guaranteed same day delivery inup to 18 cities, Bagdogra, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Kochi, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad,Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Raipur, Ranchi, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pune and Srinagar.

Commenting on the launch, Kingfisher Airlines Vice President Corporate Communications,Prakash Mirpuri, said: “Kingfisher Xpress has been conceived with a view to serving the unmet needsof users who are looking for a solution which ensures that their shipment reaches the recipient’sdoorstep on the very same day. Our confidence in this service reflects in our money back guarantee.Kingfisher Xpress will also offer a next-day delivery service across 20 cities in India.”

As well as the next-day service, Kingfisher Xpress also offers other flexible shippingoptions such as Door to Airport, Airport to Door and Counter to Counter deliveries.

Kingfisher Xpress uses belly capacity on the airline’s fleet of A319/320/321s and ATRturboprops. The airline did not provide information about how the collection and delivery parts ofthe service will be carried out.
