DX Mail, the only private UK postal operator with its own delivery operation, has enhanced itsnext-day service, SecureDX, with guaranteed delivery times and heavier weights to compete with
Royal Mail’s Special Delivery product.Launched in 2006, SecureDX offers the ability to fully ‘track and trace’ letters, packets andparcels, with a signature always being obtained on delivery. Improvements to the service include aguaranteed pre-1pm delivery and the introduction of a new weight allowance of up to 2kg, thecompany said.
The service, which is accessible through DX’s network of 4,500 private mail rooms and sortingoffices, offers delivery of important mail and light goods to any UK postcode address for up to 30%less than Royal Mail Special Delivery (RMSD). Customers simply buy 20 or more labels and pouchesand then either drop their item at a DX location or, where there are large volumes of mail, arrangefor a collection from their premises.
DX Marketing Director, Andrew Raisbeck, said: “Over the past four years we’ve developed oursorting and delivery capabilities to the extent that we can now make SecureDX widely available andprovide a guarantee that the item will arrive by 1pm the following day. SecureDX is just oneexample of where we are able to compete very efficiently and cost effectively in a sector whereRoyal Mail dominates.”
Separately, the DX Group has entered into a strategic agreement with Bar Select Limited topromote www.barselect.co.uk, the unique barrister comparison web site which is designed for use byBritish legal professionals.
DX was borne out of the postal strikes in the 1970s, when the legal profession took mattersinto its own hands in order to prevent future industrial actions causing further interruption totheir business. Handling over 250 million items a year, it now provides a range of postal servicesto a diverse range of businesses and government agencies.
