Leading Spanish transport group Azkar has continued its expansion with an agreement to take over aconsumer electronics logistics company, Condeminas Servicios Logísticos (CSL).
Azkar announced it will integrate CSL’s commercial activities and thus reinforce itsdistribution network for large and small electrical machines and equipment. CSL customers includeinternational brands such as Whirlpool, Haier, Electrolux and Kenwood.
The agreement gives Azkar a network of 17 specialised logistics platforms with many years ofserving major manufacturers in the sector. These include a 30,000 sqm centre in Madrid and a 20,000sqm facility in Barcelona. About half of CSL’s workers are expected to be transferred to Azkar.
The family-owned Condeminas Holding company said it will focus on its existing port logisticsand distribution activities in future.
The integration continues Azkar’s strategy of growth through selective acquisitions, such asrecent deals in the air & sea freight, overland and FTL sectors.
Separately, Azkar has integrated a new distribution centre in Córdoba into its branchnetwork. Located on the Las Quemadas industrial estate, the centre occupies a 3,700 sqm plot with atotal constructed area of 2,510 sqm, and has 32 bays for loading and unloading vehicles. About 33employees work at the new centre.
The Azkar group now has a network of more than 71 locations in Spain and Portugal, more than5,000 employees and a fleet of 2,400 trucks and vans.
