Malaysian courier firm ABX Express is planning acquisitions to expand its domestic andinternational business and is also open to a merger, the Malaysian Star newspaper has reported.



“We are on the lookout for such strategic partnerships and we propose to carry out thisexercise through internal funding,” group executive director Tan Chong Yian told reporters.

Acquisitions would enable the company to grow, improve access to financial markets, generateeconomies of scale and also synergies, he said. “We are confident that this approach would placethe company in a stronger position in the marketplace,” he said.

Abx Express, founded 25 years ago, is now the country’s fastest growing courier servicecompany with an extensive network of 66 centres, 1,200 employees and more than 200 delivery vans.It serves more than 220 countries through membership in the Global Distribution Alliance.
