DHL is staying stylish by supporting Fashion Weeks in Sri Lanka and USA this month to boost itsgrowing fashion logistics business.
In Sri Lanka, DHL was the official Fashion Logistics Partner of the Colombo Fashion Week,which ran from February 5-7. With this partnership, DHL seeks to encourage and promote commercebetween regional designers and retailers, thus boosting the fashion industry in Sri Lanka. TheColombo Fashion Week showcases 10 designers each evening.

We are excited to be part ofthe Colombo Fashion Week as it provides us with the perfect opportunity to leverage on ourextensive global presence in over 220 countries and territories to ensure that the creations of theinternational designers are delivered safely and in a timely manner at the fashion event of theyear,” said Ashwani Nath, Country Manager, DHL Global Forwarding Lanka.
The international fashion and textile industry, estimated to be worth $250 billion worldwide,represents one of the most important sectors for DHL. The company estimates the sector is worth$3.9 billion per year in South Asia. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka alone are estimatedto account for well over $2.4 billion in the fast-growing industry.
In New York City, DHL is supporting the annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which runsFebruary 11-18, for the fourth time in a row. The event presents designers’ Fall FashionCollections to the US and international media, and industry figures. DHL is also the OfficialLogistics Partner for other IMG-organised Fashion Weeks around the world, including Milan, London,Mexico City, Moscow, Mumbai, Toronto, Istanbul, Miami and Sydney.
As part of the New York event, DHL will be hosting a customer workshop entitled “MovingFashion in Style”, which will highlight some of the key success factors and future challenges forfashion and apparel companies when sourcing, manufacturing and distributing goods. The workshopwill focus on how global brands within the fashion and apparel sector can more effectively navigatethe challenges across their global supply chains. DHL’s expertise covers the entire logisticalvalue chain for the fashion industry from materials procurement to samples and production qualitycontrols right through to direct deliveries to the boutiques of international fashion houses.
