German express company trans-o-flex has launched a new automatic notification service informingcustomers via sms or e-mail about the delivery time of their shipments.
The new service, called ‘trans-o-flex avis’, is a result of a representative recipient surveycarried out by the trans-o-flex logistics group. According to the survey, the majority ofrecipients prefer to be notified about the delivery of their shipments. Responding to this demand,trans-o-flex made the service possible thanks to an internally developed shipment control feature.
“Since the trans-o-flex software is able to save and control individualised additionalservices for each shipment, it was possible to find a comfortable, secure and customer-friendlysolution,” said Kai Schmuck, Managing Director Sales & Marketing of the trans-o-flex Group.
At the same time, the trans-o-flex avis is very easy to integrate in the customer’s normaldata transfer procedures. “In order to use trans-o-flex avis, you just provide your mobile phonenumber or e-mail address when you send us your data,” Schmuck explained.
The additional information is saved in the production data as an e-mail or text message. Theprogramme then checks automatically, whether or not a service has been allocated to a specificshipment. In order to ensure that nobody is disturbed by an incoming text message during the night,a time frame from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. has been set during which no texts will be sent.
In compliance with the German Data Protection Act, the new service ensures the protection ofpersonal recipient data, such as mobile phone numbers or e-mail addresses. “As we have organisedtrans-o-flex avis as an additional service in the programme, the specific e-mail address or mobilephone number cannot be traced back and is not shown in the shipment information although it isclearly allocated to the corresponding shipment data,” Schmuck explained.
