TNT France is continuing to invest in eco-friendly delivery solutions with the introduction ofzero-emission tricycles in Paris as part of its environmental programme “Planet Me”.
Since 12 January the company has been using the tricycles for deliveries in one district ofthe French capital under an agreement with the environmental organisation Green Logistics / BecycleParis, a new player in the field of ecological logistics.
“At the beginning, the service will cover parcels destined for the third city district andwill be extended gradually to the heart of Paris,” said Eric Jacquemet, head of TNT France. “Atleast three other city centres will follow over the course of the first half-year,” he added.
Since 2006, TNT has developed solutions for eco-friendly deliveries in urban areas of severalcities. Currently, the tricycles are being used for delivery in eight French city centres includingLyon, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Dijon, Nancy, Rouen, Grenoble and Valence. This delivery mode hasalready proved successful in terms of reliability, efficiency, service quality and image.
As an innovative and ecological service, the latest implementation enables TNT to respond tothe need to reduce noise and pollution and in a bid to anticipate the increasingly strictregulations for city centre deliveries, TNT France said in a statement.
