DHL Express grew its business in Thailand last year thanks to a surge in shipments with the USA andChina, and is looking forward to further growth in 2010, according to recent reports from the
country.The express operator aims to grow at least 7% this year based on world air cargo growth atthe same level, the Thai newspaper Bangkok Post reported. It will focus on shipments to the USA andChina, along with the fashion, automotive, life science and technology sectors.
DHL Express closed 2009 with better figures than expected at the start of the year, thenewspaper said. “We are going to finish 2009 with flat growth in shipment volume and 2% growth indollar income,” it cited Chananyarak Phetcharat, country manager for Thailand and Indochina, assaying.
The company had a 10.8% rise in volume over the first ten months of last year thanks to astrong increase in trade with the USA and China. Shipments to the USA rose 44% from January toOctober, the newspaper added.
