Top Canadian express parcels company Purolator has ordered 200 hybrid electric delivery trucks fromAzure Dynamics, a leading developer of state-of-the-art green technologies, in addition to 205
other Azure trucks already at work in Purolator’s fleet.This is Azure’s largest revenue order to date and the highest volume order of Balance HybridElectric vehicles since the product’s launch in summer 2008. The order value was not disclosed.

The Azure Balance Hybrid Electric vehicles ordered by Purolator are integrated on a Ford E450chassis. With unique attributes like engine-off at idle and below 20 miles per hour, the hybridelectric drive train is ideally suited for commercial activity in urban environments, whileelectronically supporting key ancillary functions like power steering and braking, The drive train,with a Ford 5.4L gasoline engine, can improve fuel economy by up to 40%, while reducing carbonemissions by up to 30% in city conditions. It also offers a significant reduction in maintenancecosts versus conventionally equipped competitors.
Purolator employs over 12,500 staff including more than 3,500 couriers. It operates Canada’slargest dedicated air express fleet and has an extensive service network, with over 140 operationslocations, over 140 shipping centres, over 550 authorized shipping agents and more than 350 dropboxes.
