HDN wins Asda, HRG home shopping contracts

UK home delivery and collection service HDN has won a long-term contract to deliver parcels onbehalf of Asda and has also extended its long-standing contract with Home Retail Group.



Asda, which is owned by Walmart, has recently re-launched its non-food home shoppingproposition allowing customers to order either online or in store for delivery either to home orfor collection from store.

Under the contract, HDN is responsible for delivering to over 350 stores on a daily basis forAsda’s ‘click and collect’ service, offering 24-hour and 48-hour delivery. Furthermore, Asdacustomers who select home delivery service will now be able to choose their date of delivery withevery online shopping. Saturday will be integrated as standard option.

“This new service will provide our customers with the convenience of havingproducts delivered either to store or to home on a day that suits them and their busylives. We are delighted that HDN can support our deliver to store service as well as offer aMonday to Saturday home delivery service,” said Douglas Gurr, Executive Director of Strategy forAsda.

“Asda’s continued success is built on giving the customer what they want and ourmarket-leading delivery proposition can help them meet that promise,” added Brian Gaunt, ChiefExecutive of HDN.

Separately, HDN has renewed its long-term contract with Home Retail Group (Argos andHomebase). Over the years, HDN has introduced new services such as SMS-based customer pre-advice ofestimated time of delivery, together with time windows, giving greater customer visibility andcontrol of the delivery.

“The renewal of this contract is a positive endorsement of the work we have undertaken overthe last 12 months to improve the breadth of our service proposition for our customer base,” saidGaunt.
