trans-o-flex will launch a new ‘CO2de Green’ service for its customers in January 2010 to enablecomplete CO2-free shipping of parcels nationwide.
The new service will offer customers the possibility to improve their own climate footprint. To use the CO2de Green service, customers have to buy the required number of CO2de Green stickersto mark the parcels.
“Following a phase of intensive preliminary work, we are now in the position to accuratelydetermine the CO2 emissions for our national shipments and, on the basis of certified climateprotection projects, neutralise the discharge of the greenhouse gas,” said Kai Schmuck, DirectorSales & Marketing of trans-o-flex.
The CO2-neutral shipment service is financed by external climate protection projects becausetransportation will still continue to cause emissions in the future and to avoid suspicion ofhidden price increases on the customers’ side if internal CO2 projects will be financed by suchsurcharges.
To make this service possible, trans-o-flex makes advance payments and purchases from theseprojects CO2 certificates that are passed on to the customers in the form of CO2de Green stickers.
“In addition to this, the customers are, upon request, also provided with a detailed overviewof how many emissions were generated due to forwarding their shipments and how much of this couldbe neutralised. We want to enable our customers to include logistic processes in their own CO2balance. Thus, they have all the means necessary to decisively improve their own climate footprint”, said Schmuck.
