UPS has officially inaugurated its first healthcare logistics facility in Europe to meet thegrowing customer demand in this industry. It is located on the UPS Supply Chain Solutions European
logistics campus in Roermond, in the province of Limburg in southern Netherlands.In response to the growing supply chain needs of pharmaceutical, medical device and medicalequipment companies, UPS aims to help these customers establish or improve their European businessand become more competitive.
The multi-client distribution centre, which has been operational since spring 2009, measures20,000 sqm and provides time- and temperature-sensitive distribution and transportation servicesfor customers worldwide.
The new facility is the fourth building to join the existing logistics campus. It provideshealthcare-compliant inventory management, temperature-sensitive storage and quality assuranceservices with a direct connection to UPS’s pan-European and global freight and express packagetransportation network.
In May 2008, UPS initially announced the planned construction of the new facility in Roermondin anticipation of growing customer demand for healthcare logistics in Europe.
The facility, which was officially inaugurated on September 30, is part of UPS’s network of25 dedicated healthcare facilities worldwide.
