TNT today launched the new Storapart service to focus on the expanding service logistics sector inSoutheast Asia.
The dedicated service enables customers to optimise inventory holding and transportation forcritical spare parts around the region. The enhanced service is designed to capture more growth inthe service logistics market which stands at €2.3 billion in the Asia Pacific market and around€410 million in Southeast Asia alone, TNT said in a statement.
“TNT is well positioned to tap into the growing service logistics market in Southeast Asiaespecially in the high-end telecommunications, industrial and electronics sector,” said Karel vande Pijpekamp, Director of Sales and Marketing of TNT Asia. “By using TNT, customers can leverage onour extensive, secure networks and seamless distribution infrastructure especially in Europe andAsia just through one point of contact. This means improved service levels, visibility, reliabilityand faster response times when dealing with such high-value mission-critical spare parts.”
With the introduction of this enhanced service, TNT offers its customers overall visibilityand control of its aftermarket activities through a single point of contact. The company can act asthe central control point for all service logistics, from managing repair turnaround times at theback-end to handling front-end activities such as return screenings.
Equipments and spare parts are consolidated and strategically positioned in line with thecustomers’ service contracts using a network of regional and national warehouses combined withforward stock locations across Southeast Asia, thereby increasing the efficiency of thedistribution network. This network is manned 24 hours a day and seven days a week by a dedicatedteam of TNT specialists who can respond to customers’ demands at any given time. This enables aspare part or a repaired product to be delivered to its final destination within two to four hoursfrom the time the order is placed.
TNT says that the growth of service logistics comes because customers tend to extend lifespan of their equipment due to the current financial downturn, hence boosting the demand forafter-sales support especially spare parts. Also the company sees a trend towards the outsourcingof the service logistics division of businesses, especially in the telecommunications, electronicsand semiconductor industry.
