Australian Air Express improves service with Blackbay software

Australian Air Express (AaE) has successfully implemented the Delivery Connect solution from ITcompany Blackbay to improve customer service by delivering a real-time mobility solution for

express freight services. 

AaE, owned by Qantas and Australia Post, is a leading provider of express freight servicesthroughout Australia with over 1,800 drivers in the field.  Blackbay’s Delivery Connectreal-time mobile worker software is running on Motorola MC70 rugged handheld computers which havebeen issued to AaE’s drivers.

“Our commitment to quality of service and continued growth is vital to our vision of becomingthe premier provider of express freight services in Australia.  This commitment has driven ourinvestment in a reliable, scalable and robust real-time tracking solution from Blackbay andMotorola that will enable us to meet the needs of our customers in an increasingly competitivemarket,” explained Munro Farmer, CIO, AaE.

Following an extensive request for proposal (RFP) process, AaE selected Blackbay and DeliveryConnect to provide real-time tracking of deliveries and pick-ups in the field. 

The solution has been rolled out to over 1,800 AaE drivers who are currently using thedevices to manage and track all deliveries and pick-ups.  The solution now provides AaE withelectronic proof of delivery, electronic manifests and event and time stamping throughout thedelivery and pick-up process, providing increased accuracy of information and real-time onlinevisibility for its customers, reducing the need for customer queries.

Earlier this year, Blackbay also sealed a contract with another leading Austrian expresscompany, Star Track Express, to supply its Delivery Connect mobile workforce software, running onIntermec’s GPRS and GPS enabled CN3 rugged mobile computers, to provide real-time visibility ofshipments for Star Track Express and its 1,500 drivers.
