DPD has officially opened a new depot in northern Belgium to increase its capacity in the country.
The new depot at Aalter, mid-way between the cities of Bruges and Ghent, was opened onSeptember 3 at a ceremony attended by some 80 customers, local officials, system as well asconstruction partners, and company representatives.
The Aalter depot, operated by 25 employees, handles currently about 10,000 parcels per dayand is the home base of 60 pick-up and delivery tours. A further 30 tours will be added in a firstphase of expansion. The site has space to double its capacity in future.
The new depot connects the regions of East & West Flanders with Bruges and Ghent withDPD´s domestic and international network. In total, it provides services to around 3,800 customers.

Therefore this was for us an investment in the future, aninvestment to lay a solid ground to secure future growth and development of our business,” saidMarc Hasler, CEO of DPD Belgium & Luxemburg.
