German express company GO! Express & Logistics is investing €900,000 in a new sorting centre inAugsburg, south-east Germany, to extend its national network. The ground-breaking ceremony took
place on September 7.The new facility, which is expected to enter service before the Christmas period begins, willprovide all express services including overnight, warehousing, contract logistics. Located on anarea of 2,500 sqm, the building of the handling terminal will cover 400 sqm and a further 250 sqmwill be used for office space.
“Due to the positive development of shipping volumes we have decided to build the new GO!station for the greater Augsburg area,” says Rüdiger Neumann, Managing Director of GO! Express& Logistics Augsburg GmbH. “Our present business premises are not sufficient anymore, we havereached our capacity limits. With our investment we will provide the ideal conditions for furthercompany growth.”
GO! transported more than 3.1 million express documents, parcels and freight shipments in2008, a 10% rise. It recently announced it had stable volumes in the first half of 2009, andexpected moderate single-digit growth this year after several years of double-digit growth rates.The operator does not release revenue or profit figures.
