British courier CitySprint has won two contracts for same-day delivery services across the UK andan environmental award.
UK’s largest online fashion and beauty retailer, ASOS.com, has selected CitySprint andtechnology company MetaPack to introduce a new regional same-day delivery service to its customers.By utilising CitySprint’s unique infrastructure and MetaPack’s interface, ASOS.com will be able tooffer a same-day service for deliveries within and on the outskirts of the motorway M25, in totalan 80 kilometre radius of its Hemel Hempstead warehouse. ASOS.com’s customers can either select anevening delivery on the same day or choose a selected day which can be a Saturday or a bankholiday.
ASOS.com is the first retailer to offer this service on a wider scale. To date, and still forthe majority of retailers, next day delivery is the quickest option. With a national network ofmore than 30 service centres, CitySprint can offer a rapid delivery service to most of the UK. Theonly restriction is the customer’s warehouse locations as the products have to physically be ableto get from these destinations to the customer within the same day delivery window.
Stuart Hill, head of Customer Logistics at ASOS.com, explained: “Over the last six months wehave looked at enhancing our delivery options and going that extra mile for our customers. Ourwarehouse in Hemel Hempstead gives us perfect access to London and the M25 region and we wanted toutilise its location to offer a same day delivery service to our customers in the London area.”
He adds: “CitySprint was chosen as our partner for this exciting new delivery option as theyoffered us a competitive price point and convenient cut off times, enabling ASOS.com to offer ourcustomers the choice of delivery of their goods on the same day as purchase”.

Separately, CitySprint has been awarded a three-year contract with Cambridgeshire CountyCouncil via a competitive tender process. Under the contract, CitySprint will be providingCambridgeshire County Council with same-day courier services on a daily basis across Cambridgeshirearea. A large proportion of the contract will entail CitySprint’s CRB checked couriers deliveringliterature to schools across the county.
Meanwhile, CitySprint has won the Best Fuel Economy award in the GreenFleet Scotlandeco-drive challenge taking place in Edinburgh following the success of similar events in Londonover the last three years. During the driving test, each vehicle was fitted with a logging deviceallowing the fuel consumption and carbon emissions during the challenge be accurately measured.CitySprint completed the challenge using the least fuel and therefore the least carbon emissionsand was also the fastest of the teams.
