service for customers in Belgium.GLS Austria said in a statement that its export volumes of parcel and express shipments aredeveloping well despite the economic conditions. Express volumes are growing against the generalnegative trend of the market segment, it noted.
During the last few months, GLS equipped its network locations in Austria withstate-of-the-art video security systems to further increase the security of the goods ittransports. “The new security system is essentially contributing to reliable and secure parcelhandling,” said Klaus Schädle, Managing Director Europe South. “Now we can not only track thestatus of each parcel, but we can also keep visual records of the shipment’s path through thedistribution centres.”
The parcel company said it continuously invests in information and handling technology inorder to keep the operating process flows as smoothly as possible. For example, GLS Austriaimplemented a new telecommunications system during summer this year. “Customers can reach theirdirect contact person much faster. Our accessibility is 97%,” said Schädle. “Incoming requests aresystematically analysed for a consequent improvement of our performance and customer satisfaction.”
At the end of last year, GLS Austria received the ISO recertification. “We have passed thequality audit without any difficulty,” commented Schädle. ”Our quality management exceeds therequirements of the ISO norms.” GLS Austria measures all relevant parameters daily and eliminatesany problems immediately. The company is aiming at preventing any situation which could result inloss or damage of parcels through further special security audits and continuous improvement ofprocesses.
