SEUR cuts prices for eBay deliveries

Spanish express delivery company SEUR has broadened its cooperation with eBay by reducing deliveryprices to support e-commerce in the country’s current difficult economic environment.



SEUR, which has been the online marketplace’s express delivery partner since 2006 anddescribes itself as the leading Spanish e-commerce delivery company, said it now offers eBay Spaincustomers “an even more competitive tariff” than previously. The size of the reduction was notdisclosed.

According to the eBay Spain website, the price to ship an item with SEUR, includingcollection from a named address, guaranteed delivery on the next working day and three deliveryattempts, now starts at €7.70 for up to 1kg and €0.87 per additional kg for destinations inmainland Spain. Local deliveries are cheaper but deliveries to the Balearic Islands, the CanaryIslands and Portugal are more expensive. eBay Spain also cooperates with postal operator Correosfor home deliveries.

E-commerce has grown into a new revenue source to confront the crisis and an alternativemodel for people entering business, SEUR said in a statement. The company thus wanted to supportthese new entrepreneurs, both small businesses and occasional users, by improving its partnershipwith eBay, the clear e-commerce leader in Spain with 3.5 million registered users and 4.5 millionmonthly visitors to its website.

“SEUR has been the express partner of eBay since 2006 with a relationship of mutual trust,”said Yves Delmas, SEUR’s vice-president sales and marketing. “This is something that SEUR wanted todemonstrate to the sellers and buyers on eBay: that they can trust SEUR in a period of crisis tohelp them in their business with an adjusted offer for urgent transportation.” SEUR has also set upa dedicated phone hotline for eBay users to handle queries.

E-commerce in Spain grew by 40% in 2008, according to the official figures. Price is the topdeciding factor when making a purchase, followed by the article’s availability, the speed ofpayment and the speed of delivery, SEUR said. The Spanish e-commerce association AECEM expects mostsectors to show further volume growth this year.
