Itella re-brands express, parcel services and offers carbon-neutral shipping

Finnish-based Itella has re-branded domestic express and parcel services and is launching acarbon-neutral shipping option for customers.



Itella Logistics, which is active in eight Northern European and Baltic countries, hasre-named the two main services for business customers to Itella Express and Itella Economy as ofSeptember 1, 2009.

As a result of the renewal the Keltainen Kuljetus service names will be replaced by new ones.The new names are Itella Express Morning, Itella Express Business Day, Itella Express Flex, andItella Express City.

Itella Express Point is an entirely new service, a quick delivery for shipments retrievedfrom an Itella outlet. The service meets the needs of online retailers in particular and isinitially available in Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo and Kauniainen.

The renewal does not apply to international services, EMS, Priority and Economy, or foreignfreight. The Parcel to the Doorstep, and the Postal Parcel, both paid in cash, will remainunchanged.

“Our objective is to clarify our service range and to introduce consistent services to themarket in every country in our domestic market area. With the new Itella Express Point, we will beeven more capable of meeting the timeframe requirements of online businesses. At the same time, wewill also refine our own procedures so that our customers can obtain our services as quickly andeffortlessly as possible. Also from now on, we will provide the Prinetti address card printingsoftware and printing materials to our contract customers free-of-charge,” says Juha Koskinen,Business Director, Itella Logistics. 

“The service name revision is part of the expansion of Itella’s parcel and transport servicesoutside Finland. Our aim is to provide even more comprehensive services in the Nordic and Balticcountries as well, where Itella Logistics has its own subsidiaries,” says Koskinen.

The new ‘Itella Green’ service neutralises the carbon dioxide emissions of shipments sentthrough the Itella Express and Itella Economy services, the company announced.

By using the green additional service, customers can contribute to the struggle againstclimate change and neutralize the carbon dioxide emissions caused by the shipment beingtransported. The revenue from the additional service will be allocated to various climate projectsthrough which the emissions will be compensated in full. Itella as a whole aims to reduce its CO2emissions by 10% by 2012.
