HDN buys Scottish delivery partner

G&M Distribution

Home Delivery Network (HDN), the UK’s largest dedicated home delivery and collection service, hasacquired its Scottish delivery partner G&M Distribution (G&M) for an undisclosed sum to

extend its network.

G&M has acted as HDN’s sub-contractor for two man home delivery operations in Scotlandfor a number of years. Although under new ownership, the company will continue to operate under the“G&M Distribution” (G&M) name.

Brian Gaunt, chief executive of HDN, said: “We are delighted to have concluded theacquisition of a business which is performing well and acquiring new clients. The addition of HDNsystems post acquisition will allow us to provide the highest levels of service to our clientssending product into Scotland as well as providing an improved route to market for Scottishbusinesses sending products south.” 
 
The acquisition allows HDN to have a direct presence across the whole of the UK and toprovide clients with its industry leading service proposition. HDN has invested in new transportscheduling systems and Hand Held Technology (HHT), which allows customers to choose a timeddelivery at point of order and for clients to be able to track the progress of orders in real timeto point of delivery. The acquisition of G&M now allows this technology to be deployed inScotland.  

HDN’s 3,500 drivers deliver on average some 300,000 parcels a day from about 120 retailcustomers to home addresses across Britain.
