Itella Logistics delivers GLS parcels in and around Tallinn, where Estonian businessactivities are concentrated, on the same day as their arrival at the hub. Delivery to rural areascan take one day longer. The standard transit time from the GLS European hub at Neuenstein inGermany to Tallinn is three days, with transportation via Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

“Itella has an efficient distribution network in Estonia. With our new partner we can offerinternationally active GLS clients reliable and rapid delivery here,” said Saadi Al-Soudani,Managing Director International for GLS. “Service quality also has absolute priority for us even inthe few European countries where GLS is not yet present with its own business. With ItellaLogistics we’re delighted to have found a partner with the same aims.”

Itella Logistics OÜ, with head office and central hub in Tallinn, is a subsidiary of ItellaCorporation, the Finnish postal group. The company’s logistics division offers parcel and freightservices, warehousing and contract logistics, and has 10,000 employees in eight countries.

Al-Soudani added: “At present, the Estonian economy has been strongly hit by the economiccrisis. We expect the flow of goods to recover again once the situation stabilises. Theintroduction of the euro, planned by the Estonian government for 2011, could promote the upwardtrend in international trade in the medium-term.”
