trans-o-flex ThermoMed, the specialist for temperature-controlled shipments within the trans-o-flexfamily, has installed a new automated satellite-based temperature control system in all vehicles

and warehouses to optimise safety and efficiency of its operations. In addition, it has launched anew online ordering tool to provide more convenience to customers.

With this new solution, the temperatures and positions of every single vehicle aretransmitted to the ThermoMed hub in Kassel via satellite every five minutes. This makes it easierto plan and schedule spontaneous pick-ups or special orders. At the same time, shippers arepermanently provided with up-to-date data as to whether the temperature in the vehicles’ cargo baysor the warehouses meets the requirements. The team will automatically receive a notification assoon as the temperature differs from the set target range. The acquired data are also integrated asa new feature on the trans-o-flex website.

“This innovation offers our customers the best service and safety possible,” said CarstenGlos, managing director of ThermoMed. “We asked ourselves how we could optimise the transportationof sensitive goods for our customers.” Active temperature control plays the decisive role in thetransportation of temperature-sensitive goods, he noted.
“This is why ThermoMed customers are now given the possibility to monitor the temperature oftheir goods online. In addition to this, the password-protected shipment tracking tool alsoprovides them with data on the temperature curves of all of their shipments. Soon after thedelivery of the goods, the complete temperature development of every single shipment is madeavailable on the Internet.”

The online ordering tool has been installed as the second interactive feature, trans-o-flexsaid. “On the one hand, this makes it easier for small dispatchers to access our strong networkand, on the other hand, our large customers can now benefit from an even more flexible connectionto our EDP system,” Glos added.

The existing customers can transmit their shipment data via customised solutions. “But if theshipment data are already been sent and it becomes necessary to handle an additional order, ourcustomers can now easily and quickly send the individual data at a later time,” Glos concluded.
