Postal strikes continue at Royal Mail

Royal Mail workers will continue to take industrial action this week following a series of recentstrikes and ahead of a national strike ballot scheduled for September, according to the

Communication Workers Union (CWU).

Similarly to last week, industrial action will take place across the UK with 24-hours strikesin different parts of the country starting today and lasting until next Monday, the unionannounced.

For the first time since the national dispute of 2007, Nottingham and Leeds will be involvedin the strike action. Other cities to be hit by the strikes are Coventry, Leamington Spa,Nottingham, Stoke-on-Trent and London, among others.

According to the union, about 2,800 staff will be on strike today and about 1,300 tomorrow.

The ongoing strike action is part of the latest industrial dispute between Royal Mail and theCWU which is causing major disruption to mail deliveries in Britain. The CWU called the strikesafter Royal Mail turned down an offer for a three-month no strike deal.
