Major British courier company CitySprint has acquired Telford-based Jaguar Couriers for anundisclosed sum to continue its strategic expansion.
The acquisition further strengthens CitySprint’s position in the Midlands region where italready has an established presence with major ServiceCentres in Birmingham, Nottingham andWarwick.
CitySprint has taken over Jaguar Couriers’ 10,000 sq ft premises in Telford which will becomeCitySprint’s first ServiceCentre in the area and will provide additional support for customers inWest Shropshire, Wolverhampton, Cannock and Stafford. The new Telford ServiceCentre will add toCitySprint’s existing wholly owned network of 30+ ServiceCentres across the UK.
CitySprint said that despite the economic climate it remains committed to the growth of itsunique infrastructure recognising the valuable role it plays in supporting local and nationalclients alike. In testament to this the newly acquired Telford ServiceCentre will also providevaluable support to CitySprint’s Ministry of Defence contract as the MOD has a major site in thearea.
This latest acquisition is part of CitySprint’s successful strategy for growth by focussingon organic expansion and strategic add-on acquisitions. CitySprint is determined to use thisstrategy to maintain its strong foothold in the industry and to continue to grow its market share.CitySprint has proven that by further strengthening its capacity in the UK, and therefore itsability to support its customers, it has been able not only to weather the current economic stormbut continue to grow, as clients look towards a stable and reliable provider.
Staying loyal to its strategy CitySprint plans to retain all of Jaguar Couriers operationalstaff and couriers to ensure continuity of service for customers. Dave Cheeseman, who set up JaguarCouriers sixteen years ago, will also remain at CitySprint to continue with account management andnew business development.
“I have spent the best part of sixteen years developing Jaguar Couriers and therefore anypotential buyer had to have the right attributes to enable me to be able to hand over the reigns,”he said. “Existing Jaguar Courier customers will now have access to a range of services and levelsof support Jaguar Couriers did not have the scale to achieve or provide. Our combined local fleetnow exceeds 120 vehicles.”
