DPD Russia expands express and parcel services

DPD in Russia

DPD Russia has launched two new domestic parcel and freight express services, DPD 10:00 and DPDAVIA EXPRESS, from August 2009 in response to changing customer requirements in the current

economic situation.

The DPD 10:00 service provides ground door-to-door parcel and freight delivery to customersin Russia no later than 10 a.m. on a specified day. The service is available within the branchnetwork of DPD in Russia comprising more than 1,000 routes and is backed by an up to 100%money-back guarantee in case of late delivery.

DPD 10:00 shortens delivery times by one day since parcels and freight are delivered directlyto sales points and shops at the beginning of a trading day. This way, customers do not lose thewhole working day waiting for their shipment to arrive. It enables them to order relatively smallconsignments while also reducing storage costs at the same time.

DPD Russia said that the ground delivery makes the service significantly more cost-effectivethan comparable alternatives on the market and gives customers an opportunity to optimise theirtransport logistics budgets. DPD 10:00 is primarily targeted at small and medium retail businessesin Russia’s major cities.

In May 2009, DPD Russia piloted the domestic service DPD AVIA EXPRESS. Since then, more than120 clients have been using the solution for sending over 1,400 shipments. Given the high demandfor this service, DPD decided to extend the service coverage from 25 to 40 destinations effectivefrom August.

DPD AVIA EXPRESS provides priority parcel and freight delivery by air taking one business dayfor most routes. For example, urgent shipments from Moscow are delivered on the next working day toall the destinations covered, except those in the Russian Far East and Irkutsk where the deliverytime is two business days because of the time difference. Thanks to partnerships with Russia’sleading airlines, DPD Russia offers DPD AVIA EXPRESS at favourable prices.

Leonid Zondberg, Commercial Director of DPD in Russia, commented on the launch of the newservices: “Our strategy in today’s environment focuses on effective adaptation of our service offerto the new market reality. Logistics expenses account for a substantial share in the cost structureof many businesses, which is exactly the reason why our priority these days is to professionallyhelp our customers optimise their logistics budgets retaining at the same time quality andefficiency of their business.”
