TNT officially opened its International and Domestic Operations Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamto process more freight from customers in view of the country’s growing economy and expand its
presence in the region.Located next to Tan Son Nhat international airport in the north of Vietnam, the 3,000 sqmexpanded and re-modeled facility employs 180 staff to manage the operation 24/7. It featuresstate-of-the-art technology for freight processing, tracking and security, and has the capacity tomanage greater domestic and international road and air freight flows.
The facility possesses the latest X-ray scanning machines, radio-frequency (RF) shipmenttracking systems, automated weight and volume scanners, closed-circuit television (CCTV)surveillance, and alarm systems.
The Ho Chi Minh centre is the only commercial express and freight hub in Vietnam within-house customs and its solid security system, TNT said in a statement.
“Vietnam is quickly becoming the world’s manufacturing base for high-tech equipment andgarment industry, “ said Mark van Den Assem, Country Managing Director of TNT Vietnam. “TNT’s newHo Chi Minh City International and Domestic Operations Centre possesses advanced freight processingtechnology and is designed to support and further develop Vietnam’s potential by speeding upturnaround times, safety and reliability of goods. The security features at this new Hub areparticularly important to ensure the safe transportation of high value goods such as luxurygarments, microchips and machine components.”
In August 2008, TNT opened an international and domestic operations centre in Hanoi,contributing to the company’s strong and extensive network in Vietnam.

The link from Vietnam to TNT’s recently opened Regional Hub represents a strategic advantage,greatly streamlining Vietnam’s access to China and European markets. TNT’s own Boeing 747 freighterflies three times weekly between Liege, Singapore and Shanghai.
The new facility in Vietnam also leverages on TNT’s Asia Road Network, currently stretchingmore than 7,500 kilometre across 127 cities and connecting Vietnam to China, Cambodia, Thailand,Malaysia and Singapore.
