DHL Express France targets SMEs with new services

DHL Express France has developed new online tools and a special telephone service for small andmedium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as very small companies with less than 19 employees.



SMEs represent 80% of the employees who work in sectors such as manufacturing, services andtrade. They account for 56% of the turnover, DHL France said in a statement.

“More and more SMEs realise that optimising their transport and logistics organisation givesthem a real competitive advantage. Today, these companies ask for transport express solutionspreviously designed for large companies. SMEs ask us about reactivity, quality, and proximity. It’sour turn to facilitate interchange for these companies,” said David Edery, Director Commercial andMarketing, DHL International Express France.

The website www.dhl-pmepmi.com targets such companies helping them to save time throughimmediate access to essential information including products and services, price calculation anddelivery times, shipping instructions and parcel tracking options.

On the website, customers can download an online application DHL Ship Now providing access toDHL services with or without an account number. Companies can calculate price and delivery time ina quick and simple way. This online service allows them to prepare shipping documents such as orderforms and pro-forma invoices to more than 220 countries. In addition, companies can choose theirmode of payment, pre-alert the recipient automatically via e-mail and track their shipments in realtime.

Furthermore, DHL provides an exclusive customer telephone service for companies havingbetween one and 250 employees. A team of over 50 trained staff with excellent market knowledge isavailable for queries from SMEs. The operators are divided into seven separate teams adapted todifferent sizes of the companies. This concept has proved to be successful. For example, the teamdedicated to companies with less than 10 employees increased its turnover by over 50% since thebeginning of 2009.
