trans-o-flex ThermoMed acquires Rhenus Life Sciences

trans-o-flex ThermoMed

trans-o-flex ThermoMed, the specialist for temperature-controlled shipments within the trans-o-flexfamily, has announced the takeover of Rhenus Life Sciences from the Rhenus Group with effect from

1st July. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

Both companies specialise in the transport of temperature-sensitive shipments for thehealthcare industry, thus ensuring the quality of pharmaceutical products and enabling thepharmaceutical companies to meet the strict legal provisions.

Until today, ThermoMed had specialised in the 2-to-8-°C range, while trans-o-flex had focusedits activities on combi-freight solutions (combined transport of parcels and pallets in afull-coverage network) as well as not actively temperature-controlled solutions for specificindustries. “We have realised that the active temperature control of shipments in the range between15 and 25°C has also become very important for our customers“, said Wolfgang Weber, ManagingDirector of trans-o-flex. “This is why, starting with the takeover of Rhenus Life Sciences, we willstrongly extend this service within the trans-o-flex Logistics Group.”

Carsten Glos, Managing Director of trans-o-flex ThermoMed added: “A new network will help usmeet the pharmaceutical industry’s requirements with respect to covering the two temperature rangesbetween 2 and 8°C as well as between 15 and 25°C.”

In other respects, the company is determined to continue its business strategy. While it isimportant for the customers to have a real package solution that makes it possible for them to meetthe requirements made by the German regulation for the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and APIs(AMWHV) on temperature-sensitive products, they still need to have access to a network for theremaining shipments that are not temperature-controlled, trans-o-flex said in a statement.

“The trans-o-flex Logistics Group can meet all these requirements and offer these servicesfrom one source”, Weber concluded.

Headquartered in Weinheim in the south of Germany, trans-o-flex ThermoMed is a member of thetrans-o-flex logistics group with a nationwide network consisting of a sorting centre and 39depots. Considering the degree of specialisation, ThermoMed uses its own vehicle fleet andspecially trained drivers employing around 500 people. Apart from Germany, the company’s specialistservices are also available in Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
