UPS rewarded for climate change disclosure in the USA

UPS announced that it has been named to the 2008 Carbon Disclosure Project’s “Carbon DisclosureLeadership Index” (CDLI) in the USA.



UPS is the only transportation company from the Standard & Poor’s 500 (S&P)corporations to make the Index, according to the company’s statement. Companies selected to appearin the CDLI demonstrate the highest level of transparency and disclosure on climate change. Ofthe 300 S&P companies that responded to the request, less than 20% are recognized in the Index.

Paul Dickinson, Chief Executive of the Carbon Disclosure Project, commented: “As carbonregulation increases, those companies that have implemented climate change-related strategies areclearly going to be in a far better position to meet the challenge of higher carbon prices thancompanies that have procrastinated. Good disclosure practices are synonymous with goodmanagement.”

As to environmental and sustainability recognitions, UPS also has been chosen as a member ofthe Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the FTSE4Good Index and Fortune’s Most Admired.
