TNT Innight has announced the set-up of a company-owned network in Austria while rival Night StarExpress signed up a new partnership with former TNT cooperation partner G. Englmayer Spedition for
distribution in Austria.TNT Innight Austria announced the delivery of shipments to and from Austria since May 2009through its own network, including all exports and imports to and from Germany, which had beenshipped through the cooperation partner G. Englmayer Spedition before.
“By this expansion of our own network and the stronger usage of existing synergies, we willachieve a process optimisation from which our customers will clearly benefit,” explained PhilipAlliet, TNT Innight managing director. “With our harmonised processes we reach a higher deliveryquality. A permanent delivery scan ensures quality control.”
The customer service of TNT Innight Austria will be in close contact with TNT Innight Germanyproviding quick and easy help for shipments to and from Austria, the company added.
With this move, TNT Innight aims at strengthening its leading position in the European nightexpress sector. In 2008, TNT Innight recorded 19 million shipments which reached recipients beforethe start of work in the morning. The company has 23 branches in Germany, while three branches andfurther depots in Austria ensure handling of exports and imports from and to Germany.
Meanwhile, Night Star Express GmbH Logistik has partnered with G. Englmayer Spedition GmbH,the former cooperation partner of TNT Innight, in order to concentrate the core competencies bylinking the night express networks under one brand, Night Star Express.
The aim of the new cooperation is to improve market coverage and logistics performance acrossEurope. Customers will benefit from an improved quality in night express service in 14 countries:Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania,Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia.

The two companies have a shipping volume of almost 4 million movements within their combinednetwork. The European network includes 29 partner operations with about 60 branches and depots.
