German express company trans-o-flex has won a contract for combi-freight and special services fromthe ratiopharm Group, a leading international manufacturer of patent-free medicines, increasing its
parcel volume with the customer by 100%.Starting this month, trans-o-flex will take over the Germany-wide distribution of parcelledmedicines for ratiopharm Group. Until now, the volume was split between two service providers. Inaddition, trans-o-flex will be responsible for the distribution of some of the palletised goods andit will take over the shipment of physician samples several times a year.
In a statement, trans-o-flex said that its daily parcel volume has increased by 100% to about4,000 parcels per day through the contract. Additionally, the company handles several articulatedlorries daily for the transportation of the palletised goods.
To this end, trans-o-flex has especially developed ‘medipack’, a special service which hasbeen designed for quick and efficient transport of samples to physicians, dentists and veterinarysurgeons, considering the specific legal requirements with respect to the shipment of physiciansamples.
“With this service we unburden our customer’s pharmaceutical field forces”, explains WolfgangWeber, Managing Director of trans-o-flex. “Thus, the medical representatives can concentrate onexpert advice.”
In addition to the delivery of physician samples, trans-o-flex carries out printing of theorder forms of physician samples as well as the return.
The two companies have been cooperating for 15 years before trans-o-flex won the recentinvitation to tender of ratiopharm Group. The partnership will be set-up between trans-o-flex andTranspharm Logistik GmbH, the company controlling all logistics services for distribution withinthe ratiopharm Group, from the incoming deliveries and storage of finished goods to the ordermanagement and deliveries to the end customers.
