FedEx Express is sponsoring the French Open, one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments,providing special delivery services as the official international logistics and express delivery
company for the event.For the second time, the express carrier is supporting the French Open organised by theFrench Tennis Federation (FTF). FedEx is responsible for delivery of all anti-doping tests as wellas for the dispatch of more than 1,800 tickets throughout the world between March and May.
Robert Elliott, FedEx Express president, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Indian subcontinent,said: “The agreement between FedEx and FTF is the best choice for both organisations. The sceneryof the historic Roland-Garros stadium reflects one of the most important characteristics of FedEx –precision, planning, speed and service. We are very proud to be the exclusive international carrierof the French Open and thereby reach millions of people.”
FedEx is supporting the “Yellow Tennis Ball Project”, which was launched during the FrenchOpen in 2008 by the FTF. The initiative collects used tennis balls which are recycled for flooringof sports facilities at youth clubs and public sports centres. A total of 51,000 tennis balls havealready been recycled for floor covering of a retraining centre for disabled children at Voisenon,Seine-et-Marne, next to Paris. In 2009, FedEx will support a new initiative in France which willcollect used tennis balls of about 4,000 clubs throughout the country.
