March.Deutsche Post DHL appointed Lawrence A. Rosen (51) as the new CFO of the company. CurrentlyCFO of Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA, he succeeds John Allan (60) who will retire fromfull-time work at the end of June. Rosen will be in charge of Controlling, Corporate Accounting andReporting, Investor Relations, Corporate Finance, Corporate Internal Audit/ Security, Taxes as wellas Global Business Services.
Before Rosen joined Fresenius Medical Care as Chief Financial Officer in 2003, he worked forAventis S.A. in Strasbourg, France, as Group Senior Vice President and Treasurer for three years.Between 1984 and 2000, Rosen held different positions at Aventis’ predecessor companies Hoechst AGand American Hoechst / Hoechst Celanese Inc.
In Japan, Taketo Yamakawa was named President and Representative Director for DHL ExpressJapan with effect from 1 April 2009. Recognised as one of Japan’s respected voices of industry,Yamakawa will be responsible for managing business operations and supervising strategies to enhanceDHL’s market leadership through greater efficiencies and service quality. As a new member of DHL’sAsia Pacific Management Board, he succeeds Günter Zorn who successfully led DHL Japan as ExecutiveVice President for North Pacific since 2005. Zorn has decided to retire from DHL and pursue othercareer opportunities. With over 25 years working experience in management positions, Yamakawa wasthe founding member and Chief Executive Officer of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) Japan Ltd, aUS-based investment firm. Prior to joining DHL Japan, Yamakawa worked as an Independent Advisor tothe Energy Resources Development Co. of Japan.
Britain’s leading B2C parcel company, Home Delivery Network (HDNL), has appointed Mike Snellas Sales and Marketing Director. Snell brings significant retail and customer expertise and joinsHDNL at a time when it is relaunching and broadening its service proposition to reflect the futureneeds of the internet shopper. Previously, he worked at Asda Wal-Mart as Commercial Director forEntertainment with responsibility for the General Merchandise part of the business.
Correos has appointed Antonio Cárdenas as the new managing director of its parcel subsidiaryChronoexprés to further improve the operator’s results and enhance synergies between the parcelunit and the whole company. With effect from 17 March, he replaced Eduardo Herrera GarcÃa who tookon the position of Director Operations with Correos while also being the president of Board ofDirectors at Chronoexprés.
With extensive working experience in management, Cárdenas has already held importantpositions at the public postal operator such as Regional Director Cataluña and Director Marketingamong others. He has wide knowledge of the parcel sector having also been an advisor toChronoexprés.
TNT appointed Ernst Moekis as director of media relations with effect from March 1.
