DHL strengthens presence in eastern France

DHL new depot in France

DHL Express has strengthened its presence in eastern France with the official opening of a newdepot close to Metz.



The new depot at Montoy-Flanville, covering 1,600 sqm of operating space and 380 sqm ofoffice space, is two and a half times larger than the previous 600 sqm depot at nearby Flévy. Itwent into service last summer.

The local branch is a key site in DHL’s air express network in eastern France and last yeargenerated turnover of €10 million, the company said in a statement. The 29 employees areresponsible for some 150 customers in the regions of Lorraine and Haute-Marne.

Florence Noblot, managing director of DHL International Express France, said: “This new siteis part of the strengthening of our network in France, in which we invested more than €15 millionin 2008.” 

Depot manager Gilles Richard noted that the new depot could work more efficiently than theprevious one and was, for example, equipped to receive and handle air containers which reducedhandling times. The 30-metre sorting system can handle up to 400 parcels an hour.
