UPS has started expanding its domestic express services inside 16 additional countries in Europe,Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
The nations involved in the expansion include Algeria, Argentina, Chile, Cyprus, CzechRepublic, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malta, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa,Ukraine and UAE.
Shippers in these countries now will be able to consolidate all of their package deliveryservices with one carrier, effectively eliminating multiple shipping processes while potentiallysaving money. When using UPS for domestic as well as international shipping, customers in the 16nations will be able to use the same technology platform for tracking, visibility and billing.UPS’s shipment visibility technology will provide a higher level of service than what’s generallybeen available in some of these markets, the company said in a statement.
UPS has been offering international package delivery service into and out of more than 200countries and territories around the globe for many years. With the addition of these 16 nations,the company now provides domestic express services in more than 45 countries in total.
Dan Brutto, President of UPS International, said the expansion represented an investment forthe future through markets where the company was seeing growing demand.
“While we’ve provided international service to these countries for years, we see anopportunity now to expand our customer base and grow our business. We’re excited that we can extendour network to meet the growing needs of these customers”, he added.
Overall, UPS has invested more than $1 billion a year over the past two decades to developinformation technology solutions that make it easier for customers to connect with new marketswithin a country and around the world.
