DPD has opened a €6.3 million parcel sorting terminal and new head office close to the Lithuaniancapital of Vilnius to boost its presence in the country.

The new facility, covering almost 4,000 sqm, is the biggest in Lithuania and is capable ofsorting and distributing up to 40,000 parcels per working day, DPD Lithuania announced. Itincorporates 111 gates for vehicle loading and unloading, and features modern parcel sortingtechnology.

Moreover, the location of the new terminal, close to the newly-opened southern Vilniusbypass, meant vehicles could use the country’s main road network without having to travel throughthe capital first, the company said. The new head office is located alongside the terminal.

“We are certain our new parcel sorting and distribution terminal will satisfy the growingneeds of parcel delivery services,” said Vytautas Kudzys, Director General of DPD Lithuania. “Parcels are sorted faster, so couriers can deliver them earlier. The good working conditions willallow us to maintain a high quality of services even if the number of parcels rises significantly,”he added.

In addition, DPD Lithuania will be able to use the parcel sorting and distributiontechnologies in the new terminal to develop additional services especially dedicated to the B2Csegment. “Thanks to the new terminal, we will be able to work even more intensively with clientswho require that ordered goods should be delivered directly to the customer,” Kudzys explained.
