The new equipment enables theoperator to obtain information about delivery details including the date and the name of therecipient or justifying a non-delivery within a very short time.

The new Uni-Scan scanners comprise a colour monitor and a 2D scanner reading the data matrixof the Uni-code on the parcel label. The device can be connected to the GLS information system viaWLAN accelerating the information retrieval. In addition, the tool is equipped with high-resolutionlenses.

Developed by GLS France, Uni-Video is a parcel tracking system with video control designed toenhance traceability of shipments during their transit in the hubs or GLS agencies. It allowstracking of the parcel from its arrival in the depot until the final delivery. Cameras record theroute of the parcel through the GLS handling systems and can localise it immediately based on thereference code. Tested in Toulouse since the beginning of 2008, this system is now operational atthe office of Vitrolles, close to Marseille, before its rollout during 2009.
