DHL wins awards and expands its presence in Asia Pacific

DHL has won several awards in the Asia Pacific region, won a prestigious deal in Japan and extendedits South-East Asia presence with a new facility in Indonesia.



In November, DHL received the Green Supply Chain and Airfreight Forwarder of the Year Awardsat the Supply Chain Asia Logistics Awards ceremony held in Shanghai, reinforcing its leadingposition on the market. The Supply Chain Asia Logistics Awards 2008 is organized by Supply ChainAsia, a community that aims to bring together interested supply chain and logistics professionalswho are operating in Asia to connect, communicate and collaborate. The event aims to giverecognition to supply chain solutions and services providers who have developed best-in-classmanagement strategies in their field.

In Korea, the express operator was honoured with the Best Foreign Corporation Award 2008 bythe Korea International Trade Association. This award is the highest authoritative prize given toforeign companies that have been socially and economically devoted to the Korean market since2001.DHL Express Korea was selected as the top company in the nonmanufacturing industry. The BestForeign Corporation Award is given each year by the Citizens Coalition of Economic JusticeInstitute.

In Australia, DHL won the prestigious Logistics Leader award at the 2008 Logistics MercuryAwards in Sydney for its leadership in innovation, corporate social responsibility, workplacesafety, training and development, and supplier management across the entire supply chain. DHLAustralia stood out against competitors thanks to its superior network, pharmaceutical distributionmodel, solutions-driven approach and deep industry expertise and supply chain capabilities foreverything from an envelope to a 40ft container.

In Japan, DHL was the official courier for the 15th Osaka European Film Festival held inOsaka City from November 1 to December 5, 2008. DHL Japan was responsible for transporting filmreels and pamphlets for every film being screened during the festival. The festival seeks topromote European films in Japan to foster greater mutual understanding among Japanese andEuropeans.

In Indonesia, the company has begun operating a new environmentally friendly state-of-the-artmulti-user facility in the Cikarang region in Jakarta, Indonesia. With this facility, DHL aims toexpand its presence in the country and help minimise the operations’ impact on the environment. Thesite includes 18,000 sqm of indoor storage space and 2,400 sqm outdoors. The facility incorporatesenvironmentally-friendly features such as skylights to minimize the use of electrical lights duringthe day, natural and mechanical ventilation systems to save energy, and glass wool in the roofconstruction to reduce heat into the space below.
