DHL Express has been chosen by Systems Material Handling (SMH), the leading global partsdistributor, as its preferred international shipping provider, including US imports and exports.
As an international provider of replacement parts, safety equipment and accessories for thematerial handling and industrial equipment industry, SMH supplies more than 3 million parts for USand internationally-manufactured industrial vehicles.
With DHL’s international services, SMH will now be able to expedite the delivery ofreplacement parts and accessories to its customers and distributors in North America, South Americaand Central America within 48 hours or less from its distribution centre in Olathe, Kansas. DHLwill also provide its Import Express services to expedite imports of parts from SMH locations inEurope.
“SMH was seeking a single, full-service global shipping partner in the US that could help usmanage the challenges of rapid growth and expand into Canada, Mexico, South America and CentralAmerica markets,” said Herbert Sercu, Corporate Traffic Manager for SMH. “In addition to DHL’sstrong global network, its people have demonstrated in-depth knowledge of trade facilitation and awillingness to understand our business, which we expect will vastly improve our distributionprocess and service to our valued customers.”
DHL said that it already successfully manages intra-Europe express transportation for TVHForklift Parts of Belgium, and with the SMH contract, the revenues from both arrangements areexpected to exceed $8 million annually.
DHL has developed solutions for SMH that ensure efficient, expedited delivery to SMH’sinternational customers and distributors including automated shipping systems, proactive shipmentmonitoring, procedures for Customs compliance linked to DHL’s in-house brokerage capabilities, andspecial pickup and delivery arrangements.
