DHL Express prices will increase in the 3%-5.9% range in various European countries on December 1as part of the general rate increase of 4%-5%.
DHL Express Europe announced on October 2 that there would be a general rate increase of4%-5% on December 1, 2008 in response to rising operating costs and to take account of inflation.Individual countries would, however, announce their own rate increases in line with local inflationrates.
The highest increase will be in France, based on public announcements to date. There, DHLExpress will hike prices for ground express shipments by 5.9% (from 1 January 2009) and by 4.2% forair express products (1 December 2008).
In Sweden, DHL Express will raise prices by 4.5%, while the increase in Austria will be 3.5%.Germany and Switzerland will put up official prices by 3%. No price increases have been announcedfor several major markets including the UK, Italy and Spain.
