French express company Ciblex generated good growth in profits and revenues in the year ending June30, 2008, and will continue to invest in products and network expansion next year.

The company said it achieved significant growth both in turnover and income in France,Belgium and the Netherlands, making it the leading independent player in express distribution andlogistics in France, and the fourth-largest express operator.

Overall turnover for the financial year 2007/2008 totalled €163.5 million, up 10%. Operatingincome stood at €5.7 million, which is growth of 32% over the previous financial year. Ciblex, which provides time-definite next-day deliveries, said its growth was generated by theconsolidation of market shares in its specialist sectors, the loyalty of existing customers and theacquisition of new contracts.

Internationally, development of north/south import shipments generated growth of more than10%. This business has required the strengthening of resources and structures focused on theinternational market, such as the setting up of direct liaisons from and towards Benelux andGermany, as well as extending partnerships with key players in the transport and express mailsector in southern European countries, such as NACEX for Spain. Ciblex has also signed an agreementwith the international branch of the Belgian Post, meaning it can offer its customers qualityservices for the distribution of their international mail.

Teddy Mégarbane, president of Ciblex, commented: “We are confident in the development of ourgroup despite the dramatic change in the economic climate over the last few months.” While themarket would see “extremely fast and deep changes”, Ciblex would benefit from its specialistbusinesses, quality services and focus on customers, he predicted.

In 2008/2009, Ciblex will continue its investments to speed up the development of thecompany, focussing on strengthening its own infrastructure in all countries where the groupoperates, so as to optimise costs with the same level of quality. Furthermore the development ofrail routes in France and Europe will be relevant to meet customer expectations in terms ofsustainable development and quality.

Ciblex will also roll out a new generation onboard computer systems to boost its “recipientexpertise” and allow customers to access delivery information, with the ability to view proof ofdelivery initialled and stamped in real time. An extension of the *ISIS* model to other key areasof the company is planned to increase the transfer of know-how and the capacity of the organisationto adapt to an environment undergoing permanent change.
