International mail distributor SkyPostal Networks, which focuses on Latin America, has announcedthe launch of PuntoMio.com, a new consumer parcel logistics service for US e-tailers, and has
signed a strategic agreement with DHL Global Mail to target US-Europe mail flows.The new parcel logistics service is part of SkyPostal’s brand PuntoMio offering onlineinternational shopping assistance with US e-tailers and providing international transport, customsclearance and delivery to cross-border shoppers. The website PuntoMio.com enables online merchantsto market their products to international customers without the risks associated with cross-borderparcel delivery.
Albert Hernandez, President and CEO of Miami-based SkyPostal, said: “In line with our growthstrategy, we are leveraging our established private postal network to enter the parcel post marketby facilitating cross-border Internet shopping. Due to high customer service complaints many USe-tailers have previously avoided international online sales,” he continued. “Our solution includesparcel tracking, delivery and customs cost visibility and free return services, while guiding theinternational shopper throughout the process.”
According to online catalogue merchants, in some Latin American countries as much as 40% ofcross-border internet purchases shipped via the public postal service network do not arrive. Theparcels either disappear in the local customs or postal facilities or are ‘mis-delivered’,SkyPostal pointed out.
Subscribers to PuntoMio.com are provided a physical US address in Miami, which serves asshipping address for their internet purchases from US stores. The merchandise is delivered to theUS address at which point SkyPostal assumes responsibility for international transport andassociated logistics including customs clearance and final delivery to the customer.
Customers are directed to secure payment options such as Google Checkout and PayPal andprovided with a cost estimator enabling the buyer to determine the total purchase cost includingtransportation, customs duties, taxes and delivery. PuntoMio.com also assists the shopper byproviding product price and merchant rating comparisons through web integration and by providingonline tracking as well as free international merchandise return shipping to Miami.
Meanwhile, SkyPostal has signed a strategic partnership with Deutsche Post’s DHL Global Mailto expand its services overseas and into Europe. Under the agreement, SkyPostal will leverage itsstrong Latin America position and US presence to market its services as a wholesaler throughoutEurope and into the DHL international network.
The company has also opened a new facility at Newark Airport to handle its mail and parceltraffic from the USA to Europe, which was previously routed through Miami. This will serve existingcustomers in north-east USA and new business expected from the DHL Global Mail cooperation.
