La Poste acquires Experian document management activities to boost mail services

Docapost, La Poste’s holding company specialised in document services and solutions, has taken overthe outsourced customer process activities from the French subsidiary of Experian, the global

provider of value-added information solutions to organizations and consumers.

With the new integrated subsidiary called Extelia, La Poste is strengthening its position onthe market of document management in line with its ambitious development strategy. This acquisitionis aimed at boosting structural growth of the company enabling Docapost to double its size.

The deal, which needs to be approved by French competition authorities, enables Docapost tocomplete its service range in areas including electronic exchange as well as handling of inboundand outbound documents.

“La Poste Group is providing its know-how and innovation capacities to companies helping themto get away from cost calculations and to use document management as an opportunity for theirdevelopment and improvement of their productivity. We have a strong and clear ambition: even thoughthe services only made up 10% of the mail revenues in 2007, our goal is to achieve 20% by 2012amounting to over €500 million”, said Raymond Redding, deputy General Director of La Poste,director for mail services and CEO of Sofipost, the subdivision of La Poste’s mail business.

“In today’s difficult economic context, the management of document systems has becomecritical for the companies constantly looking for solutions to rationalise their flow and addedvalue for the mail sector”, explained Philippe Verdier, CEO of Docapost.

As operational and industrial holding company composed of 10 subsidiaries of La Poste Groupspecialised in document management, Docapost comprises 2600 employees working in more than 300locations in France. The company is also represented in numerous other countries such as USA, Spainand Italy.

Established in France since 1996, Experian currently employs 1600 people in France andgenerates about 50% of its revenues in insurance and banking sectors.
