DHL Express announced that it is strengthening its Asia Air Network by increasing the dedicatedflight capacity of its Air Hong Kong flights by 20% from Hong Kong to four cities.
The dedicated flights have been increased from five to six times per week from Hong Kong toNagoya, Taipei, Seoul and Singapore. Air Hong Kong, a 60/40 joint venture between Cathay Pacificand DHL, will operate four additional A300-600 flights on these routes on Saturdays. Thisrepresents an increased capacity of 45 tons per week on each of the four routes to serve the needsof growing intra-Asia trade.

We have a strong mid to long term outlook in Asia and are constantly looking at ways toimprove our operational processes and deliver the greatest network efficiencies for the benefit ofour customers.”
DHL Express Asia Pacific’s Senior Vice President, Aviation, Tom Murphy, said that in additionto the dedicated aircraft, DHL is utilising over 500 commercial flights per day in Asia Pacific.DHL’s air network currently comprises 30 destinations, served by over 20 aircraft in dedicated airoperations, he said. This allows major Asia Pacific cities and other business centers to beinterconnected through DHL’s regional hubs and gateways, providing customers with overnightservices across the region.
The increased dedicated capacity on the Asia Air Network follows DHL’s recent announcement ofthe $110 million expansion of its Central Asia Hub (CAH) at Hong Kong International Airport.
