FedEx flies to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

FedEx Express is serving both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City five times a week with its new A310freighter service which has expanded its airlift capacity to Vietnam fivefold, to more than 30,000

kg a day.

On September 24, FedEx Express announced it had launched a new Airbus A310 flight service toVietnam to meet the country’s increasing demand for reliable time-definite express services. But itdid not disclose routing details.

A FedEx Asia Pacific spokesman told CEP-Research that the new A310 flight is serving Vietnamfive days a week, Monday-Friday. Inbound flights depart from the company’s intra-regional hub inSubic Bay, the Philippines, and call at Ho Chi Minh City before continuing to Hanoi. The outboundflights from Hanoi stop at Ho Chi Minh City before continuing to Subic Bay.

“Packages from Hong Kong and other Asian cities will first call at the FedEx ExpressAsia-Pacific intra-regional hub in Subic Bay (the Philippines) before being forwarded to Vietnam,calling first at Ho Chi Minh City then to Hanoi,” he said.

FedEx said in its announcement that as a result of the new service, customers enjoy animprovement in international transit times into and out of the capital, Hanoi, of one day, whiletransit times for Ho Chi Minh City are unchanged.
