FedEx Express has upgraded its next-business-day delivery service FedEx International Priority fromEurope to major US East Coast cities with wider EU coverage and faster transit times thanks to new
Paris-Newark flights and new European feeder services.Customers who previously had two-business-day service can now reach more than 3,500 zip codesin key markets along the US East Coast overnight, FedEx Express announced. Customers alreadyenjoying next-business-day delivery service to the region now benefit from later pick-up times ofup to six hours, it added. FedEx claimed that with this service enhancement, it now offers thebroadest coverage for next-business-day service from Europe to the Eastern United States.
The new service will deliver to US East Coast cities by 15:00 local time, includingWashington, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston and Baltimore, at no extra cost and will now bestandard to the FedEx Express International Priority service offering, providing a value-addedbenefit to customers.
The next-day service will also be available for heavyweight or bulky shipments from Europeangateway cities through the upgraded FedEx International Priority Freight service, making FedEx theonly carrier to offer standard next-business-day heavyweight freight service to the Eastern UnitedStates. These gateways include Brussels, Basel, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris, Lille, Mulhouse,Eindhoven, Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg.
To support the service upgrade, FedEx will launch a new westbound trans-Atlantic flight andfly a wide-body MD-11 freighter Tuesday through Friday between its European air hub in Paris andNewark, New Jersey. The Europe-to-US flight segment comprises part of the FedEx westbound ‘around-the-world’ flight, which enables FedEx to provide customers with access to key marketsaround the world with highly competitive transit times.
The company will also introduce two new European feeder flights with Airbus A310 freightersto broaden its intra-European air network and offer customers in these areas later pick-up times.One flight will operate from Barcelona to Paris, while the other will fly Budapest-Vienna-Paris.
