GeoPost, the express parcels division of France’s La Poste Group, has announced the sale ofTaxicolis, a Chronopost subsidiary, to express operator Flash Europe International. This sale is
part of GeoPost’s strategy to focus on its core competence of express parcel delivery.Taxicolis, which employs around 250 people, specialises in personal delivery of expressshipments as well as high-value health and breakable products within France. In 2007, it recordedtotal revenues of € 66 million.
Flash Europe International, present in 10 countries, has been providing express transportservices, especially for the industry sectors such as automotive, health and banking and ITservices, for about 25 years.
The new group is positioning itself as a European leader for urgent transportation withrevenues of €110 million, 320 employees in 10 different countries and operating capacity in 80countries worldwide.
The acquisition would give Taxicolis a unique opportunity to establish itself on the Europeanmarket in the sectors of healthcare and public services, La Poste said in a statement.
The new group will be organised around its key sectors of automotive/industry, publicservices and healthcare. Each of these sectors will be organised independently with an integratedsales/marketing and operations division.
The key changes include among others the reorganisation of Taxicolis and Flash Europeactivities in the health sector under one single brand “Bio-Logistic”. The public servicesactivities will also operate under a new common brand.
In contrast, the activities of the two companies in the automotive sector will keep operatingseparately under their current brands to continue the capitalisation of the two strong labels. Inaddition, the European locations and the global network of Flash Europe as well as the partnernetwork of Taxicolis will serve the newly-created group.
